NSS DAY celebration – NSS UNIT 251

The National Service Scheme (NSS) was formally launched on 24th September 1969. Independence and the social Every year 24th September is celebrated as NSS Day with appropriate programs and activities.
As a part of NSS DAY celebration the NSS UNIT 251 of Jawaharlal College of Engineering and Technology also celebrated NSS day and organized a Road Safety Orientation Programme. The program was conducted in the presence of our Chief Guest Mr.Harikrishnan and Mr. Anand Gopal, Assistant Motor Vehicles Inspector. The Administrative officer Mr.Pranesh , The Advisor ,Mr.Radhakrishnan, Program Officer Mr. Ajith Mohan , Mr. Sugesh and Mr. Baburaj also joined this program. Around 70 NSS volunteers actively participated in this program. The program began with the NSS March and then followed by the flag hoisting. NSS day was mainly conducted
to realize the objective of the scheme, it was decided to integrate social service with the educational process.
After this there was an Orientation Programme Organised by our Chief Guest. The Orientation Programme was well explained and lasted for an hour. This Orientation was very important to be aware that Road Traffic injuries remain an important Public Health Problem. When Road Safety products are utilized correctly or efficiently, they can help save lives, prevent accidents and injuries, and keep a society functioning in the most optimal way. Officer’s also explained that Road Safety is the prevention of road accidents by obeying the road safety rules and regulations. The most important factor of Road Safety is the need for skillful and cautious driving so that Passengers, Pedestrians and Drivers stay safe. Developing better roads is also important to avoid Road accidents.
The program started around 9am and went on upto 12pm. Finally the program ended up with a great success.
