NSS VOLUNTEER: “World No Tobacco Day”

The NSS volunteers of Jawaharlal College of engineering and technology observed “World No Tobacco Day” and conducted a rally from college to Mangalam. The vital subject of the event was to focus on “SAY NO TO TOBACCO” which witnessed participation of around 35 NSS volunteers. The WHO observes World No Tobacco Day every year on May 31. NSS volunteers on this occasion took a pledge to raise awareness amongst the masses about the ill effects of passive and active use of tobacco products. NSS volunteers also prepared posters which highlighted the bad effects of smoking and tobacco on human lungs. This issue is of immense importance in these Covid-19 pandemic times. On this occasion, the Principal of the college, Dr. N Gunasekaran inaugurated the program.  This rally was also accompanied by the excise preventive officer Mr. P S Sumesh, civil excise officers Mr.Rajagopal , Mr. Vivek and Ms. sajithra , and NSS programme officer Mr. Thomas Joseph. After the rally was completed one of the officer’s spoke about all the facts of consuming tobacco and how it slowly drags the smoker onto the tracks of death.
