Crop Husbandry lab - Agriculture Engineering Student

Agriculture Engineering students have successfully grown 15 quintals of paddy in their paddy cultivation experiment. What began as a vegetable cultivation project has now advanced to the impressive achievement of 15 quintals of paddy, as part of their Crop Husbandry lab.

Hands-on workshop on IoT in Agriculture

The Department of Agriculture Engineering, JCET organized a Hands-on workshop on “IoT in Agriculture” on 27 July 2024. The students of B. Tech. in Agriculture Engineering (attended the event. The preliminary goal of the event was to provide an orientation and familiarization to sensors, various terminologies used and develop an interest in ‘Electronics in Agriculture’.

Mr. Dani V. T., Co-Founder and Project Director, Trilacious Labs, Ottapalam accepted our invitation and served as the key resource person for the workshop. Other speakers included Ms. Vijitha G., Asst. Professor, ECE Department JCET and Ms. Divya Visakh, Asst. Prof. CSE Department JCET, who shared their project experiences and demonstrated the approach students should gather to develop such projects in future.

The workshop helped students in:

Understanding the basic concepts of sensors and how they work.
Understanding the different types of sensors, including those used in Agriculture
Obtaining a real-feel, hands-on experience with different sensors
Ideation of various applications in the Agriculture and Food Industry
