The Basic Sciences & Humanities Department equips first-year students with fundamentals in the basic sciences, basic engineering courses and subjects in the domain of humanities. Basic science courses are an integral part of the engineering curriculum and a prerequisite for the domain knowledge in specialized branches. Humanities Science subjects familiarize students with corporate, social and ethical practices, making them meaningful contributors of knowledge to society. Basic Sciences department constitutes of highly qualified and experienced faculty of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Basic Mechanics and English supported with well equipped laboratories and trained staff.
I feel proud to introduce you to the Department of Basic Science which plays a vital role in an Engineering college catering to the teaching of Basic Science and Humanities for engineering students of all branches. The purpose of Basic Science in engineering is to lay a strong foundation of basic principles of various disciplines such as Mathematics, physics, chemistry, computers and communication skills in the mind of students so that they can proceed to the rest of their years of study with up-to-date knowledge and training of basic engineering skills. This department strives for increasing the knowledge, enhancing the critical thinking, ability to change information into knowledge and power of analysing the things technically. We always intend to impart knowledge through a closed knit family of highly competent and dedicated faculties. The teaching module comprises lectures, tutorials and practical. The methodology adopted in the class room is based on comprehensive lectures, regular assignments and interactions between teachers and students. Our laboratories have been well established not only to cover complete syllabus but also to motivate students to learn beyond the syllabus which definitely help the students to become promising engineers in future.
