P.K.Das

Late. P.K.Das Founder Chairman

Driven by a vision to provide high-quality education in technical and professional fields and to impart knowledge in a structured manner to the student community, late Shri P. K. Das established the Nehru College of Education and Charitable Trust in 1968. A visionary leader with unwavering commitment, perseverance, dedication, and devotion, he pioneered revolutionary and innovative ideas to transform technical and professional education in the private sector.

Deeply committed to social welfare and the upliftment of the underprivileged, he undertook several philanthropic initiatives, such as the donation of wheelchairs, tailoring machines, and tricycles to persons with disabilities, the provision of free education and medical treatment to students from economically backward sections, and the construction of homes for the homeless.

The Trust has also instituted over a thousand scholarships and awards for deserving children from various orphanages and schools in and around Coimbatore. The elegance of the work culture and the charisma instilled by the Founder Chairman continue to inspire and drive the collective progress of the Nehru Group of Institutions, establishing it as a prestigious centre for learning and research.

May we all be guided and blessed by the enduring legacy of this great soul, whose vision continues to illuminate our path towards greater excellence and success.

I am incredibly pleased to note that Jawaharlal College of Engineering and Technology has consistently devised and implemented sound academic plans throughout the years, which have significantly enhanced the academic efficiency and competence of both students and faculty. Intelligent planning coupled with rigorous execution remains the key to success for any institution or individual. As the saying goes, “If we fail to plan, we plan to fail.” Academic planning is therefore essential in guiding us safely towards sustained success, and JCET has always stood as a commendable example of this approach.

The college regularly organizes international seminars, lectures, workshops, technical exhibitions, Moto-Expo, Insite, Bloom, and NCC and NSS camps, all of which contribute to academic excellence and the holistic development of students, preparing them for personal and professional success.

NGI has also entered into strategic partnerships with various industries and organizations to enhance global employability by equipping students with professional competence and competitiveness across engineering, management, and information technology domains. Campus placements have reached new heights with the initiatives of Nehru Corporate Placements and Industrial Relations (NCPIR), which provides focused training to develop students’ professional and technical skills, thereby significantly improving their employability.

I am confident that the forthcoming academic year will guide us through challenges and opportunities alike, bringing greater laurels to the students, faculty, and the institution.
