The Department of Agriculture Engineering at Jawaharlal College of Engineering & Technology successfully conducted a one day hands on training programme on Farm Machinery Operation, Repair & Maintenance on April 25, 2026, at the college workshop area and indoor stadium.
The programme was organized under the aegis of Nehru Group of Institutions, with the support of PK Das Deemed to be University.
The training featured expert sessions led by Dr. Athira Prasad, Assistant Professor, Department of Agriculture Engineering, and Mr. Kiran K, Lab Assistant and SDC Trainer. The event aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge and technical skills in handling farm machinery effectively.
The morning session focused on the fundamentals of farm mechanization, commonly used agricultural equipment in Kerala, and essential safety precautions during machine operation. This was followed by a detailed, step-by-step demonstration on tractor repair and maintenance, including identification of common faults and basic repair techniques.
In the afternoon session, participants received hands-on training in the operation, repair, and maintenance of brush cutters and sprayers. The session also covered routine maintenance practices daily, weekly, and seasonal and troubleshooting common issues.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, feedback from participants, and certificate distribution. The training witnessed active participation from students and aspiring agricultural professionals, highlighting the growing importance of mechanization in modern farming practices.
