Remembering a Visionary: Nehru Group Marks the 17th 'Smrithi Dinam' of Founder Chairman Shri P. K. Das

Today, June 9, 2026, the atmosphere at the Brahmagupta Auditorium in the Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre (NCERC), Pampady, Thrissur, was filled with profound reverence and gratitude. The Nehru Group of Institutions solemnly observed 'Smrithi Dinam', the 17th remembrance day of its legendary founder chairman, the late Shri P. K. Das.
Here is a quick wrap-up of how the day unfolded.

A Melodious and Spiritual Morning

The memorial commenced at 9:00 AM with a formal floral tribute to the founder chairman, setting a reflective and respectful tone for the day.
The morning quickly transitioned into a soulful cultural experience:
Musical Tribute: Attendees were treated to a captivating violin duet by Shri Pazhayannur S. R. Vinod and Shri Shyam Krishnan, perfectly accompanied by Shri K. P. G. Sharma (Palakkad) on the mridangam.
Spiritual Discourse: Following the music, Swami Gururethnam Jnana Thapaswi (General Secretary of Santhigiri Ashram) led a comforting Satsang, delivering a message of solace and peace to the gathering.

Honoring a Legacy of Visionary Education

The formal memorial meeting was presided over by Adv. Dr. P. Krishnadas, Chancellor of P. K. Das Deemed to be University and Chairman & Managing Trustee of the Nehru Group. Reflecting on his late father's impact, he shared a powerful reminder for the educators and students present:
"The extraordinary foresight and spirit of service that Shri P. K. Das displayed in the field of education continue to serve as a powerful blueprint and inspiration for the younger generation."
Close friends and long-time associates of the founder chairmanincluding Dr. R. C. Krishnakumar (Director of Operations, P.K. Das Institute of Medical Sciences), Shri Gopinath C. A., and Shri P. N. Krishnankuttyalso took the stage. They shared fond personal anecdotes, highlighting Shri P. K. Dass invaluable, lasting contributions to both education and society.

Celebrating the Next Generation

Shri P. K. Das believed deeply in empowering the community, a value that was put into action during the event. A special felicitation ceremony was held to honor the children of the Nehru Group of Institutions' staff members. Mementos and awards were distributed to students who demonstrated outstanding excellence in various academic and extracurricular fields.

Looking Ahead

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by NCERC Principal Dr. Anoop K. G.
As staff, students, and community leaders departed, the overarching sentiment of the day was clear: the truest way to honor Shri P. K. Das is to keep driving his ultimate vision forwardachieving true social transformation through the power of education.
